Beskrivelse
ACTH 1-39 is polypeptide hormone of the anterior pituitary gland. Physiological stimulant of the adrenal cortex. Increases the synthesis and release of corticosteroids and androgens into the bloodstream, reduces the content of ascorbic acid and cholesterol in the adrenal glands. It affects carbohydrate and protein metabolism, and other biochemical processes. An increase in the release of corticotropin begins with a decrease in the concentration of corticosteroids in the blood and is inhibited if their concentration rises to a certain level. The action is similar to that of GCS. It has antiallergic, anti-inflammatory, desensitizing, immunosuppressive effect. The duration of action with the intramuscular administration is 6-8 hours. When taken orally, it is destroyed by gastrointestinal enzymes.
ACTH 1-39 Effects
ACTH 1-39 stimulates ACTH receptors on the cell of the adrenal cortex. This kind of stimulation causes production of corticosteroids and androgenic steroids.
Steroidogenesis is the biological process by which steroids are formed from cholesterol and transported from the cytosol to the inner mitochondrial membrane.
ACTH stimulates the absorption of lipoproteins into cortical cells. This leads to an increased biotransformation of cholesterol in adrenal cells. ACTH increasesconsumption of cholesterol in mitochondria and activates hydrolysis.
ACTH deficiency is a part of GHD (Growth Hormone Deficiency) disease.
The effectiveness of treatment is assessed according to the clinical criteria of the disease, the dynamics of the concentration of corticosteroids in the blood and urine.
